Jane,

After thinking about it, I realize I think of freedom in another context- as in a political sense- not that it is all that different when applied to our work/professional life. I think I direct myself by saying that I need to get myself to a point where I am constantly doing work that is stimulating and gives me the opportunity to constantly be learning. I sometimes hate doing the prosaic work, but when I think about it, that is what enables me to do the thinking stuff.

This is a really great article! And you're right. Unless and until we hone in on each of our goals, making them as specific as possible, they'll just be little dream bubbles floating around in our heads with no actionable causes. :)

Jane,

Great post, and something I've given much thought to. No one is ever free of all constraints. So, to your point, it makes sense to understand which constraint limits our happiness most significantly, and work on overcoming that.

You're welcome, Deb! Your questions are certainly part of the "freedom" equation, once you have identified the source of the motivation and value behind your questions.
